BASS Statement of Purpose

Founded in 2004, the Boulder Astronomy & Space Society is a non-profit corporation incorporated in the state of Colorado. In 2005 the Society will be applying for 501(c)(3) charitable contribution status. The Society's purpose is to provide a common point for amateur astronomers, children, academics, and professionals alike to educate each other and the general public in astronomy and the space sciences. We accomplish this through presentations at our general meetings, practicing the art and science of amateur astronomy, and through outreach at public star parties and school events in and around Boulder Colorado. We are funded through membership and donations. Our meetings are hosted by the Sommers-Bausch Observatory and the Fiske Planetarium on the Boulder campus of the University of Colorado.
